It All Begins With An Idea, Mine Began Years Ago…

Instead of going out on weekends with my friends, I would make time for NASCAR first and have been doing so since 2003. In that time, it has become one of my favorite past times in my life. Another thing I love is history and honestly there is no better organization in North American sports that is better connected to its past, than NASCAR. However over the years there has been an inconsistency of recording its past. NASCAR isn’t set up like stick and ball sports with franchises until fairly recently with the Charter System with those being easily recorded, however there’s a golden era of the sport where we have teams that are forgotten about or completely not existent online.

I grew up as a fan of Jeff Gordon, his cars history is easy to remember since the team was essentially started up for him. However you may not have known that the car did race before him as the 17 Tide Ride with Darrell Waltrip, also that 24 that Gordon ran for decades now runs as the 9 car with Chase Elliott. For other fans, there are some more complicated team histories like Ross Chastain’s Trackhouse Number 1 car can be traced back to Felix Sabates’s team in the late 1980’s and 23XI can have their roots traced back to the Elliott Family team that ran back in the 1970’s. Even some storied teams like Team Penske has another teams history before its own.

My mission is to bring the past back to life and to tell the story of some of these teams. I want to try to get every number, every team logo, every organization logo, and any details I can get to better share of the past.
