Why the #23?

The teams first car number was in reference to owner Michael Jordan’s famous jersey number, 23 which he wore for the University of North Carolina and for the Chicago Bulls. As for why he chose 23, he chose it in honor of his older brother Larry, who wore 45. Michael joked he wanted to be about half as good as Larry and the number that was half of 45 was…23 1/2. However, that was later determined to be a myth around Jordan. In reality, Jordan had two numbers to choose from for his jersey in high school and 23 was one of the numbers left AVAILABLE and he chose it.
